This week, I've been attempting to make some fun and simple toys for my niece and nephews for Easter. I made my two-year-old nephew a stuffed cat and my four-year-old niece a stuffed owl. When it came to thinking of what to make my five-year-old nephew, I knew he wouldn't want a stuffed animal. He's into video games and Angry Birds -- and not stuffed animals. I thought of making a simple pennant pillow with his name on it. He's in kindergarten and is learning how to read, so I thought it would be really special for him to have something with his name on it. Let's get started!

Hi everybody! I made this cute Christmas wreath the other day and it was inspired by the Valentine's day wreath I made earlier this year. Of course, I used red, green and white felt instead of red, pink and black felt and I think it turned out great. This wreath literally didn't cost me anything, because I had all of the supplies and materials lying around and I'm sure you do too!

Yesterday, I made this cute camera pillow. I've made two of these before, but this one is by far my favorite. Here's a tutorial for the pillow, and here's another pillow I made that's similar. You could definitely whip one up and give it to a photographer friend for Christmas. It didn't take too long to make, and I think it turned out really cute.

 do a little pre-Halloween craft as well as blog about it so you all can do the same. Sugar skulls are pretty popular, and I feel they're even more popular in this part of the country. Every year, Albuquerque even hosts a Dia de los Muertos parade. Dia de los Muertos ("Day of the Dead" in Spanish) is a Mexican holiday celebrating and remembering family members and friends who have died. I'm not sure how popular Dia de los Muertos is in other areas of the country, but I do remember seeing it portrayed on an episode of Lizzie Mcguire years and years ago... I have to tell you guys something. I have Breaking Bad fever and it's bad. I can't wait to watch next week's episode already, but I also never want this show to end. Goodness, I can't believe I love a television show this much, but at the same time.. It's just so darn good. Here's a magnet I made today out of felt. 

Liz makes Breaking Bad pillows

Since we're quite possibly addicted to the hit TV show Breaking Bad, and have been wanting to make some kind of craft to honor its last season, all this week, Tyler and I were wondering how I could make some awesome Breaking Bad pillows. I wanted to replicate the element logo well enough so it would be recognizable. I decided to make it a pillow with actual sides, similar to another pillow I've made before, and to make them white, as to imitate the white borders on the logo elements. Here's how I made it and how you can make it too. I've also attached a PDF for the pattern and etc. (Kudos to Tyler for making the PDF and the awesome graphics!)

When Tyler and I were in Kentucky, his mom gave me a boat load of fabric. She gave me three or so yards of this awesome, fuzzy, purple, cheetah-print which I thought would be perfect for a cat bed! Last night, a friend asked me to make her a pillow to give to her friend in Canada! How sweet is that? She asked me to make the pillow Batman themed, and I said yes right away. I love making pop-culture pillows and I love making them out of felt! This is an easy project that even a novice sewer can whip it out in an hour or so.

All day today, I was sitting around eating / reading / watching TV, wondering what to make. I was having crafter's block! But as I was scrolling through Pinterest, I found an iPad case that had Mister Spock from Star Trek on the front, and I knew I could make one myself. I found a silhouette of Spock on Google images and got to work.

Liz makes felt mustache necklaces

I finally decided to jump on the mustache bandwagon (hopefully it's not too late) and make something inspired by the now-popular facial hair. I bought some jump rings, lobster clasps, etc. in preparation to make more of these little babies in hopes of starting up my Etsy shop again, but decided to make these cute things instead. I don't know if you noticed, but my Etsy shop has been completely bare for awhile... not anymore!
