Liz makes over-sized cross stitch art

Late last night and early this morning, I whipped this baby up. I saw this one awhile back and new I had to make an attempt at replicating it. Mine is different in that my attempt is off-centered and quite a bit smaller, but that's okay. My fabric didn't stay as stretched as I would have liked it to, but I think it still has potential to look nice on my wall.

I made a grid on the back of my canvas and drew the Xs in, then I started cross stitching! It was pretty easy, except for the threading-my-embroidery-needle-with-yarn part. I would like to do other designs as well as work on bettering my technique, but I think as a first-timer, I did alright.
What do you think? Have you ever cross stitched before?

Love, Liz

  10. So cute! I once saw one over sized cross stitch in a canvas like the ones to paint. I wanted to do, but I did you know were to stich? Did you draw very softly first?

    1. Thank you Sofia! On the back of the canvas I made a grid and drew the Xs there, instead of on the front of the canvas.

    1. Thanks so much! The last picture is of it hanging in our dining room, but soon after that picture was taken I moved it above our (small and unsightly) television. I'll try and take more pictures.

  12. This is such a neat idea! I think it turned out really nicely. I am sure it is going to look even better once you find a spot for it in your home.
