My mom is always looking for simple felt crafts to make while she's at work. One time she made a whole bunch of them and posted them on her Instructables page. To make one for yourself (or for a gift!), you'll need a couple of sheets of felt, a cardboard coffee sleeve, a pen, straight pins, a needle, thread and a pair of scissors. Let's get started!
Turn the felt wrong side up on a flat surface. Grab your cardboard coffee sleeve and using your pen, trace around the sleeve onto the felt. Cut them out. Make the inside felt piece (in this case, the solid pink felt) a tad bit shorter than the outside piece (the tie dye felt).
Using a blanket stitch, sew the top from side to side, through both layers.
Thread your needle again and repeat with the other side.
This is what your coffee cozy should look like at this point.
Using the cardboard cozy as a guide, pin one edge (the slanted edge) over the other.
Sew through both layers (but not through all four layers!) to connect the felt and make a circle.
Now you're done! Super cool, right?
I made this one by adding my name to it before I sewed the back piece to the front. That way, the stitches are hidden in between each piece. I just free-cut the letters. Easy peasy! I bet these would make great last-minute gifts.
Tomorrow is Tyler's birthday and I'm going to spend all day in the kitchen making his favorite foods! I can't wait! I hope everybody has a good weekend -- I know I will!
