Liz makes easy sugar cookies

Yesterday, I had a real craving for sugar cookies. I looked up a simple recipe and made them right then and there. They were delicious and when Tyler came home, he was pleasantly surprised to see a dozen and a half cookies on the kitchen counter. Here's the recipe I adapted from AllRecipes.com:

3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon honey

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix flour and baking powder in a small bowl; set aside. Cream together butter and sugar, then add egg and honey. Slowly mix in the flour mixture to the sugar mixture. Using a heaping teaspoon, make small balls of dough and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. After pulling them from the oven, leave them on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes, then place them on wire racks.
I had everything in my pantry / fridge to make these bad boys, and I'm sure you do too. They're chewy in the middle and a little crunchy on the outside. I love them that way!
I hope you all have a great week. :)

  1. Ohhh yummy! I have been looking for a good (read; EASY) sugar cookie recipe for awhile now, so going to give this one a try, question; do they spread a lot in the oven? Like are cookie cutters do-able for this? Either way; so making these.

    1. Hey Juliette! Thanks for stopping by. You know, I don't think they would hold their shape, as the cookies spread. Sorry. :/ maybe if you refrigerated it for a couple hours prior to baking. Let me know how they turn out!

  4. Do you think that they would be good if I put homemade Kool Aid frosting on them??? Or are they delicious just the way they are? Love all of your posts!
