I've made one and a half dresses in the past couple of days, and I'm really enjoying it! I didn't take pictures of the processes because I was really just messing around. I didn't expect them to be wearable! If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen these pictures, but if you're not, then here they are. I hope you enjoy these sneak peeks. I'll take better pictures in the days to come. For now, these will have to do.
I made the blue dress first, and even attached a zipper in the back. One of my first zippers! It has a gathered waist and a fitted top. I made the lining out of my sister's old wedding dress.
The second dress (the one I'm still working on) is completely made out of my sister's old wedding dress. The lining is made of the lining of the wedding dress, and the bodice and skirt are made from the skirt of the wedding dress.
There was also lace between the lining and skirt of the wedding dress that I used for lace "petals" that overlap, kind of like scales! Originally, the neckline was a lot higher, but I later lowered it.
I still need to put in a lining skirt and a zipper, and I think I'll also add a sash, but I need to go to the store first!
What do you think? Am I on my way to being a seamstress?
