Liz makes easy hair scrunchies

We made it home! And while I'm suffering from a sunburn and 30 or so mosquito bites, we sure did have a ton of fun. One thing Tyler's mom and I did together was make these cute hair scrunchies. We made quite a few of them with all sorts of different fabric. I love them because they were extremely easy to make and they're completely adorable. Here's how you can make some too:
You'll need a 4" x 14" piece of fabric, a 7" piece of 1/4" elastic, a safety pin, scissors, and iron, and ironing board and a sewing machine threaded with matching thread.
First you'll need to iron the ends of the piece of fabric over 1/4", right side facing up. Then, Iron the piece in half, right sides together. Pin and sew.
Turn your fabric tube inside out. Put the safety pin on the elastic and side it safety pin side first in the tube.
With a little elastic hanging out, sew the tube shut (where the dotted line is). Then, pin the other end of the elastic to the other end of the tube (where circled), but make sure to only pin it to one side of the tube (not both)! This way, the tube isn't pinned shut.
Place the sewn end into the other end of the open tube. Pin so it will stay in place.
Now run it through your sewing machine!
And now you're done. Make a dozen of them, or put it in your hair immediately. Mine can go around my hair twice pretty tightly. If you have thinner hair, you may want to cut your elastic shorter, or whatever. I have a ton of hair, so this length was perfect for me.
I hope you liked this tutorial, and thanks to Tyler's mom for helping me figure out how to make them. I just want to wear them all in my hair all the time. :) Have a great weekend!
