I'm guessing you've all probably seen felt food all over the internet. I've been wanting to make some felt donuts for awhile now. I just love how they turned out. I love the fake icing and all the fake little sprinkles. They're so whimsical and fun. Want to make some? Follow my tutorial.
You'll need some felt, an embroidery needle, scissors and embroidery thread.
Make three circles out of felt with holes in the middle. To do this, you'll need to use something to trace the circles with. I used a small coffee can and a shot glass. The icing piece will need to be wavy on the outside. I just did that by free hand.
Put the two matching circles together and sew around the outside edge. Leave a gap open.
Turn inside out. Using a blanket stitch, sew the inside.
Stuff the donut.
Ladder stitch closed.
Sew some sprinkles on the icing piece.
Stitch the icing onto the donut.
And then make a bunch!
I think they're adorable. I bet they'd make great, simple gifts for children. I bet it'd be great to make a dozen and put them in a little donut box. Have a great weekend everybody!
Love, Liz
I'll have to be honest - I saw donut and I don't think I've ever clicked on a post so fast (my favorite treat). You are way too creative - these are absolutely adorable!
