Liz makes a baby blanket

If you're like me, then a lot of your friends are starting to having babies now. And I mean a lot. Pretty much all of them. If you're like me even more, you don't have a lot of money for all of the baby shower presents you're going to have to get. Here's a really simple and inexpensive way to make a baby shower present that everyone will love.

First, you need to get some fabric. A yard will do for a receiving blanket. This is actually slightly smaller than a yard, because it was in the remnant bin at the craft store. However big your piece of fabric is, cut it in half.
Place right sides together and pin.
Now sew almost all the way around. As you can see, this is kind of like making a pillow except we're not going to stuff it.
Don't actually sew all the way around. Leave a gap big enough for you to turn it inside out.
Clip those corners!
Now turn it inside out. Completely. Pin 1" away from the seam.
Top stitch ~1" from the seam, removing your pins as you sew.
And that's it! Easy peasy. The fabric cost me $2 and the thread was probably around $.50. So under $3 for a cute baby blanket? Score!
Have a great week!
Love, Liz
