Liz makes a yoga mat bag

I'm planning on taking a pilates class starting next month, and I'll have to bring my mat with me. I decided to sew a bag for the mat myself. I've crocheted a mat bag before, but I knew this would be much quicker. It's so easy, anyone can do it! Let's get started.

Grab your mat and roll it up. Measure the length and circumference of it. Cut out a rectangle of fabric that is the length of the mat plus a couple inches by the circumference of the mat plus a couple inches. You add the inches so there's actually room for the mat to fit. Also, cut out another rectangle 4" x 35" (or as long as you want your strap) and a circle with a circumference slightly larger than your mat's circumference.
Take your 4" x 35" rectangle and iron/fold it as seen below.
Sew the strap on both sides.
Pin the strap on top of the big rectangle and fold it in half hot-dog style.
Sew along the long edge, making sure to catch the ends of the strap.
Pin your circle to the bottom and sew around the edges.
Turn inside out. Fold in the edges of the still open part of the mat bag.
Sew around the edge making sure to leave a gap. Put some kind of string or make some kind of tie to push through the gap.
Now all you have to do is put your mat inside and tie a bow!
Really easy and super cute.
Have a great weekend everybody!
Love, Liz

    1. It would be pretty easy to make one if you had a sewing machine!
