Liz makes a crocheted monster pouch

Today I made a cute crocheted monster pouch. It has a face and the zipper acts as the mouth. I guess it's not really monstrous, but if some creature started eating pens around me, I'd probably call it a monster. So let's get started!

Start with a small zipper. If you don't have a small zipper, make a small one out of a larger one. That's what I did! Try and use matching thread if you do that because I didn't and it looks dumb.
Now blanket stitch across each side, making a 1/2 centimeter gap between each stitch.
Knot your ends and start crocheting! Single crochet through each stitch, chain one and turn. Start all over and make eight or so rows total. Tie off your yarn and go to the next side.
This time crochet twenty or so rows.
Now single crochet on both sides. When you come to the zipper, just crochet through it. Cut holes if you need to. After you're done with that, make a crochet rectangle the same size as the first piece. You'll also want to single crochet the sides on this piece too.
Now place the two pieces together. Make sure the zipper is open and single crochet both pieces all around.
Turn it inside out and add some button eyes.
Pretty cute, right? This would be perfect for pencils or crochet hooks.
I love how it turned out! Have a great weekend! I just finished my midterms and now it's spring break! Tyler's birthday is next week too and I can't wait! :)
Love, Liz
