When I graduated from high school, one of my mom's friends gave me a cookbook all about cooking with ramen. It's called 101 Things to Do with Ramen Noodles and it's awesome. There are quite a few recipes that call for meat, but most of them are perfectly fine without it. That being said, if you aren't a vegetarian and you would like to add meat to this dish, I bet some chicken or something would work fine. Tyler and I make this often when we have busy nights, or want to eat something light before we go rock climbing. I love it! Here's how to make it:
The only three things you'll need are a package of ramen (without the flavor packet), a cup of frozen stir-fry vegetables and some soy sauce.
I save the unused flavor packets for my boyfriend who is not a vegetarian.
First, you'll need to cook the ramen according to package directions. We have an electric teakettle which makes cooking ramen a breeze.
Next, put your cup of vegetables into a microwave safe bowl along with a splash of water. Microwave for 3 minutes and 50 seconds and let sit for a minute or two.
Mix the two together and add some soy sauce. Enjoy!
It's cheap, easy and delicious... Oh, and vegetarian! What more could you ask for? :)

Is it really THAT easy?? It looks so yummy! I think that I'll put this im my recipe book and take it to college when I graduate!

Yes! You could easily make this for dinner in a dorm room as long as you had a small microwave and a small fridge/freezer like I did my freshman year. :)

i loooveee doing fun things with ramen! i have done a ramen slaw and ramen with spicy peanut sauce. if you ever end up using the spice packet, the ONLY vegetarian ramen is Top Ramen Oriental flavor. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! I've been looking for some vegetarian ramen. If I lived alone, I would definitely go look for it right now, but since Tyler will take my leftover (nasty, meat-filled) packets, that works I suppose.
