Yesterday I made the cutest little felt broccoli magnet to go with the cute sunny-side-up egg magnet I made not too long ago. I didn't even use a pattern to make it, and it only took a little bit of my time. I'll let you know what you'll need and what to do so you can make one too. Well, let's get to it!
You'll need dark green felt, light green (mine was almost lime green) felt, poly-fil, white thread, a small needle, a magnet, strong glue and something to slap the finished product to! First off, you'll need to cut out the shapes. You need two dark green floret pieces and two light green stems. I didn't use a pattern and cut them by freehand. If you really want a pattern of some sort, you can probably search google images for a cartoon broccoli floret.
Next, you'll need to sew a face onto one of the dark green broccoli pieces, like so. I used a plain-jane regular stitch, but I made sure they were very tiny.
Now get the two stem pieces and sew around them starting from one side, going around the bottom and to the other side. Leave the top open so you can stuff it later.
Now you need to grab your dark green broccoli pieces and sew them together, making sure to leave a piece at the bottom open as well.
Stuff it with poly-fil...
...And sew the two pieces together. I just went back and forth between the front and back. The back doesn't look so great, but that's okay. Now you need to glue a magnet on the back. Hot glue would probably be the best choice, but I used tacky glue and set a paper weight on it for a long time. That did the trick just fine. (It looks a lot better than it does in the picture.)
Now you're done! Slap it on your fridge.
Cute, yeah? Have a great Monday!
Love, Liz
