Liz makes-over a pair of folding chairs

I've been wanting to recover my chairs ever since we moved, which feels like yesterday but was FIVE MONTHS AGO! This year has just been flying by. Anyway, well I covered these chairs along with making a table cloth and a little valence curtain for my kitchen window. Here's how you can do it too:

First, we're going to make the top part of the chair. It's pretty easy. First, you'll just need to lie your fabric down on the floor and trace around your chair. Make sure to cut 1/2" around your pencil line which will give you seam allowance. Do this twice.

So you should come out with two half circle pieces. Place right sides together and sew around the edge. After I took this picture, I got my pinking shears and cut a little closer to the seam.

Now fold the bottom edge over twice, pin it and...

...sew!

Now for the seat part of the chair. Take a screwdriver and unscrew the screws holding the seat to the chair.

Now grab your hot glue gun and a square piece of fabric about 4" larger than your seat. Hot glue the corners...

And then the rest of the fabric. You might want to also add some kind of batting or something else comfortable to sit on under the fabric. I didn't because we don't really sit in these chairs very often and I didn't see the need, but it might be a good idea.

Now screw the seat back onto the chair. The screws will go right through the fabric.

Place your little slipcover over the top and viola, you're done!

Here's a before & after of my dining room space. I was using a shower curtain as a table cloth! I also turned my table so I have a bit more space.

I think it looks pretty good if I say so myself. :)
